Simon Shnapir and his skating partner Marissa Castelli are heading to Sochi after winning the gold medal in the U.S. Pairs Figure Skating Championship on Saturday.

Simon Shnapir and his skating partner Marissa Castelli are heading to the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The two-time U.S. Pairs Figure Skating champions were chosen by the U.S. Figure Skating committee one day after earning a 132.58 in the long program of the U.S. Pairs Figure Skating championships, giving them a two-day total of 205.71 to capture their second straight gold medal at TD Garden in Boston.

Shnapir graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 2005.

“I know it’s cliché, but this is a dream come true," he said in a Boston.com report. "We’re still a little bit shocked. We’re just trying to enjoy all of these moments. We’ve worked so hard and done so much on our eight years together and this is such a great pinnacle for us.”

The Olympics will also be a homecoming for Shnapir, who was born in Russia.

"We're going to Sochi," he said in Russian when it was announced that he and Castelli were on the team, ESPN reported.
