Three Lincoln-Sudbury Graduates Taken in Major League Baseball Draft

A trio of former Lincoln-Sudbury baseball players learned over the weekend that their baseball career will continue as they were selected by teams in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.

Current Vanderbilt right-handed pitcher Adam Ravenelle was the highest former Warrior taken in the draft. He went in the fourth round, No. 130 overall to the Detroit Tigers.

This season, the Sudbury resident put together a 3-1 record with a 1.31 ERA while coming out of the bullpen as a junior.

Carl Anderson, a starting pitcher and center fielder for the 2011 Lincoln-Sudbury state champions, was drafted in the 19th round by Pittsburgh. He is currently a junior at Bryant.

In the 28th round, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected former Warrior and current Binghamton center fielder Bill Bereszniewicz. He was just the eighth Binghamton player taken in the draft since 1990.

“I’m thrilled for Billy ... nobody has worked harder for this opportunity,” head coach Tim Sinicki said, according to the school's website. “There is no doubt in my mind he’ll make the most of it. He turned himself into a dynamic player on both sides of the ball and was without question our most valuable player this spring.”
