Sudbury Little League Majors Division Game Summaries June 3 through June 14

Orioles 17, Red Sox 2-June 3 

Jacob Noyes got the game started with a leadoff triple, the first of his four hits on the day, helping to preserve the lead, and the win, for the Orioles against the Red Sox. Nate Nickerson and Max Boone each singled, and were driven in by a Luca Nicastro double, putting the Orioles ahead by five runs.  In the second inning, Ethan Minkoff's single was followed by hits from Noyes and Johnny Oblak.  J.B. Clarance and Boone then hit back-to-back homeruns, plating five more runs.  Finn Garrity also singled and was brought home by Luca Nicastro's second hit of the day.  In the third inning, a leadoff single by Jacob Noyes ended up bringing in two more runs, as Oblak homered in the following at-bat. Orioles 7, Giants 1-June 7

The Orioles plated one run in the second inning off of a single by Finn Garrity to take a 1-0 lead, and continued on to defeat the Giants.  In the third inning, a leadoff double by Jacob Noyes got things going for the Orioles.  The next batter, Johnny Oblak, doubled and Nate Nickerson singled, plating Oblak for the second run of the inning.  With one man on, Michael Mackinnon's massive homerun gave the Orioles a 5-1 lead.  Singles by Phil Cass and Ethan Minkoff in the bottom of the fourth inning kept the heat on the Giants.  Two batters later, Oblak's single added the last two runs of the Orioles successful day at the plate.  Strong pitching was able to hold up the lead, led by Nickerson, (3 IP, 4 K’s, 1 R), and J.B. Clarance, who was dominant in relief striking out 9 and allowing no runs. (Giants’ game summary not available)

Orioles 11, Pirates 5-June 11

The Orioles jumped out to a quick three run lead off of a single from Johnny Oblak, and extra base hits by Nate Nickerson and J.B. Clarance, never looking back in their victory over a tough Pirates team.  The top of the order for the Orioles added four more runs in the second inning with triples from Oblak and Michael Mackinnon, along with a single from Max Boone.  Oblak had his third hit of the day in the fourth inning when the Orioles added four more runs again, fueled by a key double from Boone.  Defensively, Ethan Minkoff made a key play at third base to keep the potential Pirates rally in check.  Nickerson pitched three solid innings, striking out six and allowing no runs.  Clarance was strong in relief striking out seven over three innings of work on the mound. Phillies 6, Cardinals 5, Majors Quarterfinals-June 14

The Phillies jumped out to an early lead after the first two innings, led by hits from Robbie O'Connor, Charlie Murphy, and William Maillet.  Sean Carney started the game for the Phillies and pitched three innings of no-hit baseball with five strikeouts.  Connor Peek followed up on the mound in the third inning, and pitched three no-hit innings of his own, collecting seven strikeouts and keeping the Phillies off the board for the rest of the game.  The Cardinals offense rallied with five runs late, but came up just short, and were eliminated from postseason play despite entering the game with a league high eleven wins.  Their offense was led by David Lifson (2 H) and hits by Peek, Dylan Goldman, Ryan Richards, Ari Roth, and Will Fama.
