Tom Conroy, D-Wayland. In a press release, Conroy calls Dolan a friend and said he hopes to serve together with her in the legislature. "We need more elected officials in Massachusetts like Mara Dolan,” Conroy said in a statement. "She is committed to good government, and has a sense of the right priorities — Democratic priorities — including job creation, affordable and high …

Just 12 days earlier, on May 1, he was sworn in as Brigadier General in the United States Air Force Reserve, the ranks of which he has served for more than 25 years as a chaplain endorsed by the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS). “It is a time of great blessing," Erikson said. "After 27 years in the priesthood, it still amazes me that I am so privileged and fortunate to serve God and my country as both a priest and a chaplain in the military. I am deeply honored and …

Sudbury Triathlete Falls Short in Olympic Trials

Jarrod Shoemaker places 24th in San Diego.

Sudbury native Jarrod Shoemaker, a 2008 Olympian, fell short in his quest to make the 2012 U.S. Olympic team as the triathlete finished a disappointing 24th Saturday at the ITU World Triathlon San Diego. "Unfortunately, Jarrod did not qualify for the Olympics this past Saturday. It is a real disappointment for Jarrod," his agent, Michael O'Neil, told Sudbury Patch in an email. "This is the unforgiving side of sports — on one day, someone else has the race of their life and the expected Olympians don't make the team." O'Neil said Shoemaker was not available for comment. "I think we will skip a comment at this point ... I want to give Jarrod time to digest the disappointment," O'Neil said. On Sept. 16, 2007, Shoemaker qualified for the 2008 …

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Sudbury Plays the Numbers Game

Resident Dan De Pompei says Article 4 of this year's Warrant is an example of how the town is run.

On April 15 we all received copies of the Warrant for Town Meeting (TM) 2012.  The distribution of the Warrant prior to TM is required by statute so the taxpayers can be informed on the status of the Town prior to the taxpayers carrying out their legislative responsibilities at TM.  Article 4 of this year’s Warrant, The FY 13 Budget, is really the major purpose of the Warrant and TM.  Article 4 sets the Cost Center expenditures and thereby sets the tax levy to fund the Town Cost Center operating budgets for the next fiscal year.  The budget numbers in Article 4 and the integrity behind these numbers is a validation of how the Town is run. This year, when TM moved on Article 4, the Finance Committee (FINCOM) amended Article 4 and advised …

The problem is that Mr Fucci seems to condone "opinion based" attacks such as Carol's and yet will not allow people to state facts that effect WE the voters, citizens and taxpayers of Sudbury. I have recently made posts in regard to one of our elected lawmakers and they have been denied. My posts are based on public records which can be found at any courthouse or website of the …   more ›
