Sudbury Public Schools also preps for last-minute budget adjustments for May 7 Town Meeting.
Sudbury Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Anne Wilson received a glowing first review from the Sudbury Public Schools (SPS) Committee on Wednesday. “She is hardworking, thoughtful, politically savvy, and, when necessary, tough as nails,” read one quote from the review. The annual superintendent’s assessment, which normally happens later in the spring, was fast-tracked this year due to the impending retirement of Committee Chair Jeffrey Beeler and Vice Chair Susan Iuliano next month. Committee members assessed Wilson on all areas of her performance, including educational vision, personnel and financial management, and communication. The evaluation comprised both a checklist of items against which the superintendent was rated on a scale of …

A bomb threat was received Monday morning.
Updated: 4:59 p.m.: Sudbury Police Lt. Scott Nix said the bomb threat was left on the school's voice answering device on Sunday, April 22, sometime after 9 p.m. Nix said school officials called police about the threat shortly after receiving the message Monday morning. Police are working with the phone company to investigate where the call originated, Nix said. The incident may or may not be related to a Nov. 1 bomb threat at L-S, Nix said. "The (two incidents) were made by two distinct callers," Nix said. "It doesn't mean they aren't associates." Updated: 2:08 p.m.: Police made numerous sweeps of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School after being alerted at 8:37 a.m. of a bomb threat, according to a press release from Sudbury Police Lt. …

The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Committee discussed during its Tuesday meeting formulating a vision for the school's budget for the next three years, which is in progress, in order to facilitate better planning for the school community. Superintendent Dr. Anne Wilson says school salaries in Sudbury not competitive enough.
It was an offer he couldn't refuse. And it was for a reason she understands. Loring Elementary School Principal Jeffrey Dees announced in an email blast on Monday he was leaving to take the principal position at Upham Elementary School in Wellesley. On Tuesday, Sudbury Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Anne Wilson said the offer made to Dees, despite it being a lateral move and to a smaller school, included a significant bump in salary. And the chance to offer his family a more financially secure life was something she understood. "It's a financial opportunity he couldn't pass up," she said. "The salaries in Wellesley are much higher than in Sudbury. He'll make 25 percent more than here. It's a huge jump in pay." Wilson, who is in her …

It is an unbelievable pleasure and privilege to be able to work for you and your children. We have built an enormously successful school. The success at Loring is a direct result of many people coming together with a single focus and then applying a tremendous amount of effort each day. The best part of all that hard work is that it is now sustainable. "After much thought and careful consideration I have decided to take on a different position to …

Michael Connolly will begin new position on July 1.
Michael Connelly admits the excitement of a new job at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School is a bit offset by the relationships he'll leave behind in Wakefield. But the current Wakefield business administrator said the opportunity to join L-S as its new finance director was something he couldn't turn down. "I sort of decided a month or two ago to start looking for new opportunities," said Connelly, who was unanimously voted in by the L-S Regional High School Committee on Monday. "When I saw the Lincoln-Sudbury opening and did some research, it seemed as a very professional, prestigious organization." Connelly has spent the last four years serving as Wakefield's business administrator. He'll begin his new position at L-S on July 1 with …

"Politically savvy"? Not so savvy a couple of weeks ago wen she whined about SPS salaries being lower than others school systems when losing Jeff Dees to Wellesley. I say she has much to learn in this department. And how about Beeler patting hinself on the back with this: "Over the past many months, it is clear that we made the right choice-" I'm really going to miss you and Susan, Jeff. NOT.   more ›
