Local Sudbury Organization for Children with Special Needs Has Statewide Plans

SMILE Mass, which helped successfully refurbish the playground at Haskell Recreation Area to be fully accessible, is planning more events for the Sudbury area and taking aim at large-scale projects to benefit families of children with special needs.

SMILE (Small Miracles in Life Exist) Mass, a group founded by residents of Sudbury, is looking for new ways to raise awareness about children with special needs and to help families of children with special needs. SMILE Sudbury was started in 2009 to raise money to help update the toddler playground in the Haskell Recreation Area to a playground that is accessible for children in wheelchairs and children with developmental challenges. One upcoming event that SMILE Mass has planned is a 30-team scavenger hunt that will take place in Sudbury on Oct. 23.
