400 freestyle relay team of Ricky Billig, Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Tom Edwards finished in 2nd place.
On February 17th the LS Boys State team comprised of 8 swimmers took 4th place at Divisional I States. The Boys were very successful considering the number of swimmers they had. Contributing to the team’s success was numerous swimmers going best times. To start off States Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards finished in 4th place in the 400 Medley Relay. In the 200 Freestyle Chris Wilkins went a best time of 1:49.45 and took 14th place. In the 200 Individual Medley Ricky Billig went a best time and finished in 7th place. A complete team effort powered the Lincoln-Sudbury girls swimmers and divers to a dramatic second-place finish with 202 points at the Division 1 State Meet on Sunday at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool. The gang of nine L-S athletes who met the stringent state meet qualifying standards included swimmers Megan Griffin, Catherine MacKeen, Alicia Perry, Leah McCabe, Jenny Genovese, Ansley Baker, and divers Kimberly Yang, Emma Jarczyk and Clara Shealy. Westford Academy finished first with 305 points. "With just six swimmers and three divers, we didn't have a big team this year," said senior captain Megan Griffin. The 2012 Boys State Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championships were held Friday at the Blodgett Pool at Harvard University. Lincoln-Sudbury placed fourth out of 41 teams. St. John's Prep was the winner followed by Lowell and Minnechaug. L-S sent 10 swimmers and one diver to compete. The high school seniors were honored by their names being announced as they lined the pool. L-S seniors Ryan Fleming, Bryan Johnson, Ryan Kenney, Sam Mackie and Joey Merullo took part in the final swim for the Warriors. The first event was the 200-yard medley relay that placed second with the time of 1:38.63. Tom Edwards swam the backstroke, followed by Mackie who worked his magic in the breaststroke.
