Lincoln-Sudbury Girls' Basketball Team Hits Its Stride Against Waltham

Warriors pulled ahead early and cruised to a 62-33 road win.

The Lincoln-Sudbury girls' basketball team hit its stride early and often on the road against Dual County League Large foe Waltham on Friday, easily cruising to a 62-33 victory.. “I really liked the way we played as a team,” said L-S coach Liza Feldman. “My goal for this team is to be threats as individual players, but to also work as a team. It is tricky to do both, but we did a good job of that tonight.” The Warriors' starters opened with a 12-point run, which created a lead they would hold onto all game. A 3-point jumper and a tough layup by Warriors sophomore Ashley Lutz helped finish off the drive for L-S. “I felt like things were going well with the starters,” said Feldman. “Until people needed a break or I felt like I saw something …

Hot Shooting Leads Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Basketball Team to Season-Opening Victory

Three late 3-pointers by junior Shannon Connelly helps Warriors capture a 51-40 home win.

Three late 3-pointers by junior Shannon Connelly and hot team shooting throughout the game proved key for the Warriors in their season opener and home opener on Tuesday night. Scoring 29 points outside the paint, the Warriors pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Weston, 51-40. "I think we had a moment out of the break where we all were thought 'alright, lets do this,'" said Connelly. "We pushed the ball. All our confidence went up at the same time and we were able to put it away." With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Warriors had a slim 30-28 lead. Two points from senior Alex Quadri and a late 3-pointer from the corner from Connelly sent L-S into the fourth quarter up seven points. "I thought the group in there was doing …

Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Soccer Team Settles for Scoreless Draw

Warriors goalie Katie Sia records her first shutout.

The Lincoln-Sudbury girls soccer team had no trouble pressuring Wayland in the second half of their game yesterday. Getting the ball in the net proved a little more difficult for the Warriors, who settled for a scoreless tie at home Tuesday afternoon. "I was proud of the way we played," said L-S junior Madison Acton. "I thought we had a lot of great opportunities, but we just could not put the ball in the net today." L-S kept the ball in Wayland territory for much of the second half. In the last 30 minutes, L-S had five shots on goal, while Wayland only had two. "We talked about at halftime that even if you lose the first 50-50 to really work hard for that second ball or third ball," said L-S head coach Kate Berry. "My girls did not let …

Girls Cross Country Team Opens Home Schedule with Double Victories

Warriors sprint past Acton-Boxboro and Westford Academy.

On Wednesday, the 2009 state champion Lincoln-Sudbury girls cross country team opened its home schedule against Acton-Boxboro and Westford Academy.   With evenly-matched L-S and A-B teams both vying to be overall DCL champions, tension hung in the hot afternoon air. The girls race went out slowly to conserve energy with temperatures in the mid 80s. After 400 meters, L-S senior Andrea Keklak and two A-B runners separated from the pack, which remained in pursuit 15 seconds behind the three lead runners through the first mile into the wooded portion of the course. At about the 12:00 mark, Keklak emerged from the woods, with the two A-B runners trailing by 20 seconds. Keklak cruised to the finish with a time of 16:47 for the 2.75-mile course, …

Girls Soccer Team Begins Season with Tough Loss

The Warriors can't capitalize on chances in season-opening loss to Weston.

Despite several opportunities in the second half, the Lincoln-Sudbury girls soccer team had trouble offensively in its season-opener Monday against Weston. Sarah Gitlin tallied the lone goal for the Warriors in a 3-1 loss at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Trailing 2-1 going into the second half, Lincoln-Sudbury (0-1) had a steady attack, and in a matter of minutes saw several of their shots ring of the post and crossbar. With less than 10 minutes to play, and trailing 3-1, the Warriors' attack picked up as they pressured Weston (2-0). Gitlin had a shot hit the post, and Shurdy Saini was robbed after receiving a great pass from teammate Eliza Guild. In the final two minutes of play, Lincoln-Sudbury had another opportunity, but a shot…
