Carpenter Withdraws Candidacy for Harvard Superintendent

The L-S superintendent notified the Harvard school committee by email on Sunday that he was out.

Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Superintendent/Principal Scott Carpenter confirmed a report that he is no longer a candidate for the vacant Harvard Public Schools superintendent post. The Harvard Press reported he notified the Harvard school committee on Sunday that he was withdrawing his name. According to the report, Carpenter's email stated: “Unfortunately, after reflection over the past days, your search process and timeline have become less than desirable, and I would now not leave my present position for Harvard. I will be withdrawing from your search to focus my energy elsewhere.” Carpenter had been the lone finalist left when Jessica Huizinga of Freetown-Lakeville withdrew her application for “personal reasons.” Carpenter …

UPDATED: Carpenter Last Candidate Standing for Harvard Post

Freetown-Lakeville Superintendent Jessica Huizenga withdrew her name on Monday; Harvard school committee tabled announcement of a hiring.

UPDATED 11:30 A.M. Lincoln-Sudbury Superintendent/Principal Scott Carpenter will have to wait a little longer to find out whether he will be chosen as the next superintendent for Harvard Public Schools. According to an online report, the Harvard school committee opted to withhold the announcement of a hiring after Freetown-Lakeville Superintendent Jessica Huizenga called at 4 p.m., Monday, to withdraw for "personal reasons." Interim Harvard Superintendent Joseph Connolly told Sudbury Patch the school committee got word of Huizenga's decision just as they were arriving for their meeting Monday night.
