Some of the biggest names in music take the stage at Madison Square Garden for the live 12-12-12 concert for Sandy relief. While thousands of people fill the arena, billions are watching live on a variety of screens worldwide. The concert is streaming live on television networks, movie theater screens and on the Internet, including right here on Patch. Huge names in music are lending their talents to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the “12-12-12” concert on Wednesday, Dec. 12. Every penny sold from ticket sales will go directly to Sandy victims through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which provides material, money and aid to local organizations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm, including over 200 Patch towns in New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island. (EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted to Sudbury Patch.) After an extensive Facebook discussion about Hurricane Sandy and ways to help, a Sudbury mother of six came up with an idea to hold an indoor yard sale with the money benefiting New York Fire Department families who were severely affected by the storm. Married to a 9/11 widower and through friend connections with other widows in the affected areas she became aware of the fact that 1,500 first responding FDNY families had lost most or all of their worldly possessions. Using Facebook, an idea was born to have local families donate unwanted items and host a community yard sale.
