LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Don't Allow Polling Hours to be Cut

League of Women Voters asks customers to vote at the Sudbury Water District's annual meeting on May 15.

The Sudbury League of Women Voters urges customers of the Sudbury Water District to attend the District’s annual meeting Tuesday, May 15, and vote against a proposal to cut the hours the polls are open in the District election from the current 12 hours to four hours. That proposal is Article 7 in the Water District’s annual meeting warrant, which is available online at www.suburywater.com  and at the Sudbury Senior Center, 40 Fairbank Road, and the Water District office, 199 Raymond Road. Sudbury League of Women Voters Sponsors Forum on Campaign Finance Reform

Concord Attorney Jeff Clements will discuss ways residents can change the influence of money on elections.

Two years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that corporations, unions and special interests are entitled to free-speech rights, a decision that has enabled those organizations to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence federal and state elections. This year’s election season is already seeing an unprecedented wave of campaign advertising, and with the proliferation of superPACS and 501 (c) organizations, major donors funding election advertising remain unidentified to the voters. Jeff Clements, a Concord attorney and author of a new book, Corporations Are Not People, with a foreward by Bill Moyers, will discuss the history of campaign finance reform, the impact of Citizens United, and…
