Lincoln-Sudbury Boys Swim Team Captures 4th at States

400 freestyle relay team of Ricky Billig, Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Tom Edwards finished in 2nd place.

On February 17th the LS Boys State team comprised of 8 swimmers took 4th place at Divisional I States. The Boys were very successful considering the number of swimmers they had. Contributing to the team’s success was numerous swimmers going best times.  To start off States Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards finished in 4th place in the 400 Medley Relay.  In the 200 Freestyle Chris Wilkins went a best time of 1:49.45 and took 14th place.  In the 200 Individual Medley Ricky Billig went a best time and finished in 7th place. Jake Hogan and Taylor Brown placed 20th and 24th and they each went a best time.  In the 100 Butterfly Tom Edwards took 6th place with a best time of the season.  Dylan Brown achieved one of his main…

L-S Boys Swimmers Too Much for Acton-Boxborough

Efforts by Dylan Brown, Chris Wilkins, Ricky Billig, and Tom Edwards in the final race seal the win for the Warriors.

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim and dive team went to Acton-Boxborough last week with their sights set on victory. The boys captured the victory over their longtime rivals with a score of 94-89.   Ricky Billig, Taylor Brown, Tom Edwards and Andrei Rakitin started off the meet by placing in 2nd place in their 200 medley relay. After being out touched in the 200 medley relay by .06 seconds the L-S boys rallied back with Dylan Brown and Jake Hogan placing 1st and 3rd in the 200 freestyle. Chris Wilkins, Taylor Brown, and Nate Thomas finished in 1st, 3rd, and 5th place in the 200 intermediate relay to tie up the score with A-B. L-S Boys Swim Team Edges Wayland

Ricky Billig, Tom Edwards among the Warriors to capture first-place finishes.

On Friday, Jan. 25, the Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim and dive team raced the Wayland boys team in an extremely close contest for the win. A remarkable final relay put L-S on top and let its final duel meet of the season count as a win, finishing with a score of 95-90. The 200 medley relay team from was met with an extremely fast team from Wayland to begin the meet, but the L-S boys were still able to fight their way into securing second and fourth place. Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Andrei Rakitin found success in the 200 freestyle stealing from Wayland places 1,2, and 4. L-S Boys Swimmers Come Up Short to St. John's Prep

Warriors 400 freestyle relays pulls out the victory to end the meet.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, the Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim and dive team faced the seven-time defending state champions St. Johns Prep. St. John's power in the water proved to be greater than that of the boys team and forced LS into an unfortunate defeat. The final score of the meet was 80-96, but St. John's' points following the 200 freestyle relay were not kept track of due to the inevitable victory. To begin the meet the boys 200 medley relay put up a good fight and finishing only three seconds behind St. John's was the relay of Ricky Billig, Taylor Brown, Tom Edwards, and Andrei Rakitin. L-S Boys Swim Team Cruises Past Boston Latin

Relay teams take first in all three events.

On Jan. 4, the LS boys had a great meet against Boston Latin with numerous swimmers capturing top places and phenomenal times in their events. The boys consistently swept the events and they defeated Boston Latin convincingly with a score of 100-70. To kick off the meet the 200 Medley Relay team comprised of Edwards, Brown, Billig, and Rakitin placed 1st. Closely behind was the Relay Team of Shelley, Foscolos, Thomas, and Knightly who placed 2nd. In the 200 yard Freestyle Chris Wilkins, Dylan Brown, and Nick Genovese swept the race earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Jake Hogan, and Nate Thomas swam into 1st and 2nd place for the 200 I.M. L-S Boys Swim Team Grabs 4th in Division 1 Championship Meet

St. John's Prep finishes first.

The 2012 Boys State Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championships were held  Friday at the Blodgett Pool at Harvard University. Lincoln-Sudbury placed fourth out of 41 teams. St. John's Prep was the winner followed by Lowell and Minnechaug. L-S sent 10 swimmers and one diver to compete. The high school seniors were honored by their names being announced as they lined the pool. L-S seniors Ryan Fleming, Bryan Johnson, Ryan Kenney, Sam Mackie and Joey Merullo took part in the final swim for the Warriors. The first event was the 200-yard medley relay that placed second with the time of 1:38.63. Tom Edwards swam the backstroke, followed by Mackie who worked his magic in the breaststroke. L-S Boys Swim Team Edges DCL Foes Wayland, Acton-Boxborough

Dual County League championship meets begin Wednesday.

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim team swam against Wayland at the new Wayland Community Pool on Tuesday and won, 97-87.  Then three days later the boys team competed at home against the Acton-Boxborough swim team and won again. The Wayland meet started off with the medley relay and the team of Dylan Brown, Sam Mackie, Ricky Billig and Joey Merullo took second place with a state qualifying time of 1:47.46. They were followed by a third-place finish by the team of Chris Knightly, Taylor Brown, Ryan Kenney and Andrei Ratikin with a sectional qualifying time of 1:51.67. Bryan Johnson won the 200-yard freestyle event with the time of 1:50.37, qualifying for states and breaking the Wayland Town Pool record previously held by Weston swimmer Tommy …

L-S Boys Swim Team Too Much for Waltham and Bedford

Warriors continue to post qualifying times for State Meet.

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim team was on the road last week, first on Monday at Bentley University to compete against Waltham, then on Thursday at  Shawsheen Regional Technical High School to compete against Bedford. The Warriors won both meets. Against the Waltham Hawks, L-S showed its talent and diversity in the pool. The Warriors placed first and second in the opening medley relay races. Coming in first was the team of brothers Dylan (back) and Taylor Brown (breaststroke), followed by Ricky Billig (butterfly) and Andrei Ritikin (freestyle), with the time of 1:55.47. Coming in second place was the relay team of Chris Knightly (back), Jake Hogan (breast), Chris Wilkins (butterfly) and Joe Merullo (freestyle), with the time of 1:56.29.   …

Lincoln-Sudbury Boys Swim Team Drops Close Meets to St. John's Prep, Weston

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys swim team was busy last week with two meets against their best competition in St. Johns Prep and Weston. The Warriors lost to St. Johns Prep, 94-84. The meet started off with the 200 medley relay team of Tom Edwards, Sam Mackie, Ryan Fleming and Joe Merullo victorious in a close race. Bryan Johnson came in second in the 200 freestyle race (1:50:46) against formidable opponent Ryan Fortin (1:49.50).   Mackie placed second in the 200 IM (2:01.92). The 50 and 100 freestyle races were fast with great competition. Fleming placed second both events with first-rate times of 22.62 and 49.49, respectively.   The St. John's Prep diving team swept first second and third place.   Edwards shined for L-S coming in first in the …
