Clary Gold Medal Leads L-S Girls Track Team at East Coast Champion Invitational

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted to Sudbury Patch.)  The Lincoln-Sudbury girls indoor track team took a small group of athletes to Providence, R.I., to compete in the East Coast Champion Invitational meet on Saturday as they prepare for the championship portion of their season in the coming weeks. Despite missing a several top-performers due to sickness and minor injury the Lady Warriors placed several individuals and one relay on the podium. Sydney Clary continued her amazing season and led the team by winning a gold medal in the 1 mile with a personal best time of 5:12.90. In the high jump, Lucy Alexander finished 2nd and continued to shine with a jump of 5 feet 6 inches equaling her all-time best.  Kristin Kimble finished 8th…

L-S Girls Track Team Shines in State Relay Meet

Warriors finish fourth in MSTCA Division 1, large-school competition.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted to Sudbury Patch.) The Lincoln Sudbury Girls Track & Field team had an impressive showing at Saturday's MSTCA Division 1 State Relays finishing 4th in the large-school competition. The meet is an all-relay format which emphasizes team depth - one that the Lady Warriors have excelled at over the years.   Lucy Alexander, Meaghan Klapper and Kristin Kimble led the way with their 1st place finish in the high-jump relay.   Other team points were scored by the following relay teams: 2nd place 4x800 relay (Katie Lascaleia, Morgane Butler, Meri Kohler and Brianna Bisson), 2nd place in the Distance Medley Relay (Katie Lascaleia, Elise Hinkle, Ariel Keklak and Sydney Clary), 4th place in the 4x800 relay (…

L-S Girls Track Team Captures 2nd in Division 1 State Meet

Senior Marika Crowe posts best time in state this season in 1000M.

Senior Marika Crowe won the 1,000 meters and anchored the 4x800 relay team to victory as the Lincoln-Sudbury girls indoor track team took second in the Division 1 State Championships this past Sunday at the Reggie Center in Boston. Crowe's time in the 1000M (2:55.82) was the best in the state this season. Crowe also anchored the 4x800 relay, which finished in 9:27.43, also a state-best time for this distance this year. Other 4x800 participants included junior Meri Kohler, sophomore Byn Miller and senior Madison Acton. The entire team stepped up with season-best efforts. “Every single kid ran their best time today, the kids responded to the pressure,” said L-S coach Henry Phelan.
