L-S Swim Teams Come Up Short Against Westford Academy

Boys squad rallies to beat Tyngsboro and Lexington.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted to Sudbury Patch.) On December 18th Lincoln-Sudbury traveled to Westford for one of their toughest meets of the year. Not only is Westford a talented team, the L-S squad is facing lots of illness and injuries on the team right now. The team of Caroline Goswami, Catherine MacKeen, Alicia Perry and Leah McCabe started off the meet by taking second in the 200 medley relay. Perry was able to place second in the 200 freestyle and MacKeen also took second in the next event, the 200 individual medley. Ansley Baker and Katherine O’Shea swam to first and second in the 50 freestyle, both swimming it in under 26 seconds. Emma Jarczyk, Kim Yang and Clara Shealy swept diving. Lincoln-Sudbury Swim Teams Sweep Concord-Carlisle

Warriors also earned a sweep of Waltham.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted to Sudbury Patch.) On December 7th, the Lincoln-Sudbury boys and girls swim and dive team had its first meet together against Concord-Carlisle. There were some great swims by the boys in their first meet of the season.  Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown, Ricky Billig, Tom Edwards, Jake Hogan, Andrei Rakitin, and Chris Wilkins all qualified for the post-season in their individual events.  Kevin Henderson continues to improve in diving; taking second place only two points behind the winner. The best event for the boys came in the 100 freestyle.  Billig, Rakitin, Chris Knightly and Jack Walker took first through fourth.  They swam impressive times of 51.01, 51.18, 55.33 and 57.37 respectively. L-S Swim Team Preparing for Another Run at DCLs, States

The Warriors return many key contributors from last season.

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys and girls swim and dive team is ready to begin the 2012-2013 season with tryouts starting this week.  The team is led by senior captains Emma Jarczyk, Catherine MacKeen, Leah McCabe, Alicia Perry, Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown and Matt Shelley.  The captains are excited for the season to begin and to get everyone together again. “I think what makes our team so wonderful is how we grow as a team throughout the season and work together to reach common goals. But most importantly we have so much fun and work hard while doing so,” Perry said. Jarcyk, MacKeen, McCabe, and Perry are excited to lead the girls team this year. Lincoln-Sudbury Swim Teams Sweep Newton South

Warriors also earn a split with Westford Academy.

The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School swim and dive team enjoyed a successful stretch with three meets between Dec. 16 and Dec. 23. On Dec. 16, L-S faced off against Newton South. The girls won 101-74 and the boys 102-71.   The L-S girls started off the meet with a strong win in the 200-yard medley relay. Catherine MacKeen (backstroke), Alicia Perry (breaststroke), Megan Griffin (butterfly) and Leah McCabe (freestyle) swam a state qualifying time of 2:02.66.  MacKeen went on to win the 200 IM and qualified for sectionals with a time of 2:23.95, and later won the 100 butterfly with a state qualifying time of 1:02.46.
