UPDATED: Girls Basketball Player, Hockey Players Among L-S Athletes Suspended

Police say evidence of both alcohol and burnt marijuana were present.

UPDATED 5:35 P.M. An under-aged drinking party that was broken up by the Sudbury Police Department on Jan. 24 has resulted in numerous athletes from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School receiving MIAA suspensions. According to Lt. Scott Nix, parents have contacted the department admitting their student-athlete had received a suspension. "Parents have called us, asking about the communication process between the school and the police," Nix said, "and what procedures were imposed and why." According to a report from Pam Cross of WCVB-Ch. 5, among those suspended were a girls basketball player and several hockey players. When contacted earlier today to confirm rumors, L-S Athletic Director Nancy O'Neil said she didn't think discussing which …

This page is ridiculous and out of control. It really shows that no one has anything better to do these days then sit on the Sudbury Patch and write comments about what has happened IN THE PAST. The party is over, and though it was a big deal for a small town like Sudbury, we must remember that it has been dealt with and there is no need to keep resurrecting it. On another note, I do agree with …   more ›

Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Lacrosse Team Falls Short of EMass Title

Second-half rally against Westwood not enough for Warriors.

WELLESLEY – At halftime it looked like a cakewalk, but in the end it was a classic. The Lincoln-Sudbury girls lacrosse team outscored Westwood 7-2 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Wolverines were able to hold on and defeat the Warriors, 11-9, to win the Eastern Massachusetts Division 1 title on Monday at Babson College. The Wolverines will play either Algonquin or Longmeadow Friday night in Worcester for the state championship. Westwood senior Kate Hazar scored 11 seconds into the second half, but something clicked for Lincoln-Sudbury after that and the Warriors rallied. The Warriors outscored Westwood 7-1 the rest of the game, but several costly turnovers allowed the Wolverines to cling to their lead. “The girls had a great…

Lincoln-Sudbury Girls' Lacrosse Team Falls to Westwood in State Semis

The Warriors scored just two second-half goals Tuesday falling to the Wolverines for the second time this season.

The top ranked Westwood Wolverines are heading back to a place they are extremely familiar with, the MIAA girls lacrosse state championship game. They got there Tuesday evening by defeating the Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors 15-7 at Wellesley College, a team they already beat once at home in the regular season, 21-11. “They are just very strong all over the field," said L-S coach Deb DeJesus. “They have a lot of good athletes and they are very skilled and they walk on this field with confidence.” Westwood will square off against the winner from the West, Longmeadow, who handed Westwood its only tie this season and who fell victim to the Wolverines in both the 2008 and 2009 title games. “It’s never an old hat,” said Westwood coach Leslie Frank …

We just worked so hard. This was our goal the whole time.” Sexton was a one-girl machine for L-S, pumping in five goals and adding an assist in the win. Sophomore Abby Quirk added a pair of goals and three assists while junior Madison Acton netted four goals in the win. Senior…
