Connelly's Decision to Leave Lincoln-Sudbury a 'Personal One'

The finance director for the regional high school is taking a similar post closer to his home.

The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Committee may have a busier summer break than it is used to. After learning earlier this year that Superintendent/Principal Scott Carpenter had accepted to take the same job for the Monomoy Regional School District on Cape Cod, the Committee also found out its finance director was also heading out. Michael Connelly, who joined L-S last year, will be the North Reading School District's new director of finance and operations, according to North Reading School Committee Chairman Mel Webster. Michael Connelly admits the excitement of a new job at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School is a bit offset by the relationships he'll leave behind in Wakefield. But the current Wakefield business administrator said the opportunity to join L-S as its new finance director was something he couldn't turn down. "I sort of decided a month or two ago to start looking for new opportunities," said Connelly, who was unanimously voted in by the L-S Regional High School Committee on Monday. "When I saw the Lincoln-Sudbury opening and did some research, it seemed as a very professional, prestigious organization." Connelly has spent the last four years serving as Wakefield's business administrator. He'll begin his new position at L-S on July 1 with …

Mr. Connelly will be greatly missed in Wakefield. He was instrumental in implementing strong financial controls and understanding his role in ensuring the funding for education was spent wisely. He was exceptional at responding promptly and appropriately to requests from the public, staff, and School Committee (of which I was a member during his tenure). The LSRHS community is very fortunate and …   more ›
