For weeks residents of Sudbury have pleaded with town officials for all the answers regarding the night of May 8-9 when Lavender Asian Cuisine & Bar was cited for hosting patrons after hours. But when it was revealed a couple of weeks later that an accident from that night involving a town employee who was cited for her third OUI, the pleading turned into demanding. During Tuesday night's Board of Selectmen's meeting, residents became irate as Chairman Larry O'Brien recused himself from the conversation per the advice of town counsel and left Town Hall while the meeting was still ongoing. After former Selectman Kirsten Roopenian asks to 'extend an olive branch' to calm tensions, Sudbury neighbors express displeasure over how the town has handled Lavender and the OUI of Beth Rust.
The Sudbury selectman also declines to second a motion by Vice Chair Bob Haarde to have Police Chief Richard Glavin and town counsel present next week to answer questions.

As the Sudbury Board of Selectmen meeting extended past 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Chairman Larry O'Brien read from a prepared statement apologizing for a recent incident in which he admitted to staying at Lavender Asian Cuisine and Bar on May 9, with several other town officials, past the time the business was supposed to close according to the terms of its liquor license. He said he lost track of time and regrets the attention the case has drawn away from other important issues. Clerk's office confirms incident from early morning hours of May 9.
Elizabeth Rust of the Sudbury Department of Planning and Community Development department will be arraigned on June 27 to face an OUI charge from the night of May 9, according to the Framingham District Court Clerk's office. Sudbury Patch received the information just after 12:30 p.m. on Monday. A message left for Rust in her office seeking comment was not immediately returned. A person who answered the phone said she was out for the day. The Sudbury Police Department cited Rust for an OUI, her third, after allegedly driving over the island near Concord Road, striking two signs and colliding with a granite post the morning of May 9. Residents Rita and Sid Bourne have had enough of the recent actions by town officials.
Recently Sudbury has witnessed: Informed residents view the political culture of Sudbury as unethical and unhealthy. Comments in the Sudbury Patch and the Sudbury Town Crier reflect frustration but not surprise. We relative newcomers (nine years) are both surprised and appalled. Actions at BOS, ZBA, and the last Town meetings hint of key decisions made with little regard for relevant facts, and tight control of information. Sudbury must wake up. Power and influence are reclaimed by action, not by words. Let’s insist on a government that is truly for the people of this lovely town. Our approach must include parents, seniors, business owners, and elected officials outside the “in group.” Let’s consider: Citizens, please voice your concerns …

A motor vehicle stop by the Sudbury Police Department early Saturday morning turned into an arrest of a Framingham woman. At about 1:20 a.m., Juliezer Dasilva, 29, of Waverly Street, was pulled over on Boston Post Road. After the responding officer completed an investigation, Dasilva was arrested. She is charged with: Dasilva was released at 5:08 a.m. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Framingham District Court. No other information was available.

A call to the Sudbury Police Department early Wednesday morning about a motor vehicle accident turned into an arrest of a local man. At about 5:12 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Old Lancaster Road to investigate a one-car accident. Upon arriving at the scene, the responding officer noticed a car had struck a utility pole. After an investigation was completed, Christopher Winthrop Drake, 22, of 78 Hemlock Road in Sudbury, was arrested. Drake is charged with operating under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation. Sudbury police said Drake suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized. He was transported to Framingham District Court later Wednesday morning for his arraignment. No other information was available.

To the insider: It is common practice to cite and not arrest b/c the person went to the HOSPITAL!!! So the police were correct in their actions. The Police are out there everyday protecting the town of Sudbury and the residents.
