Would it be Scott Brown? Congressmen Markey or Capuano? Tell us who you think should run.
The Washington Post is reporting that President Obama is considering appointing Massachusetts U.S. Sen. John Kerry as the Secretary of Defense. There was speculation Kerry would become the next Secretary of State. Either way Kerry's move to possibly become a member of Obama's cabinet will open up his current seat. Should he be appointed, a special election would be held to finish out Kerry's term, which expires in 2014. Conversation from the breakfast table this morning to the morning commute has everyone talking - who will run for Kerry's U.S. Senate seat if he's appointed? Could it be Scott Brown? Or maybe Congressmen Ed Markey or Michael Capuano? Only time will tell, but we know you're talking about it. So tell us, who do you think …

Most judgments on the first presidential debate have hinged on superficial arguments rather than substance. This tendency to view the exploration of government policy as a sports event to be won or lost could cause one to miss things of greater importance. In this regard, it was clear to me that Gov. Mitt Romney used the debate as a device to re-cast himself as a middle-of-the-road Republican. This is an implausible image, given that most Republican members of Congress and their leaders are aligned with the Tea Party, and his running mate, Paul Ryan, is a Tea Party icon. In order to create the illusion of political transformation, Romney used the debate to distort, deny, or obfuscate virtually everything he promised or stood for over the …

Maybe you're a die-hard Democrat, and you think Joe Biden wiped the floor with Paul Ryan in the vice presidential debate Thursday. Or maybe you're a staunch Republican, and you believe Paul Ryan was on top of his game. Do you share these opinions with your Facebook friends? Maybe you shouldn't, suggests a recent article on Boston.com. People of all political leanings told the Globe they're learning too much about their friends' and relatives' attitudes. The article is informed by data from the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project. The study found that 18 percent of Facebook users have blocked, unfriended, or hidden a friend because of political differences or a distaste for the sheer volume of the friends’ political posts…

Online quiz helps voters find the candidate whose views most closely match their own.
With all the discussion on different policies, tax plans and social issues, it can be difficult to decide which candidate for president matches your own views the best. An online quiz on ISideWith.com is trying to help voters decide. The quiz asked voters to select their stances on foreign and domestic issues and the results are then compared with the policy positions of the candidates in order to show quiz takers which candidate has the most similar views. The quiz only takes a couple of minutes to complete. A look at the quiz results for Massachusetts shows that 61 percent of the Commonwealth voters who took it side most closely with President Obama. 51 percent side most closely with Green Party candidate Jill Stein, 45 percent are most …

Released by the White House
President Barack Obama: Good evening. Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. It was nearly 10 years ago that a bright September day was darkened by the worst attack on the American people in our history. The images of 9/11 are seared into our national memory -- hijacked planes cutting through a cloudless September sky; the Twin Towers collapsing to the ground; black smoke billowing up from the Pentagon; the wreckage of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the actions of heroic citizens saved even more …
