The New England Revolution Under-18 team formally kicked off its 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy schedule at Durfee High School in Fall River this past weekend when they hosted Met Oval on Saturday and the New York Cosmos on Sunday. The Under-18s earned a 2-0 victory against Met Oval on Saturday. New England maintained possession for much of the first half, but was unable to capitalize on a pair of set piece opportunities. FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 team played its first game of the U.S. Soccer Development Showcase on Friday, coming back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 3-2 victory against the Clearwater Chargers at Pizza Hut Park. Early mental lapses sent the U18s into halftime facing a two-goal deficit, but a re-energized Revolution squad began staging a comeback early in the second half. The Revs earned a corner kick in the 53rd minute, taken by Fabio Machado, Jr. (Leominster, Mass.). Sean MacDonald (Candia, N.H.) got a head on the service at the far post and found the back of the net to make it 2-1. The youth squads came out of the weekend with a combined record of 1-1-2. UNDER-18s The Under-18s battled first-place Empire United to a 3-3 draw on Saturday in the teams’ second and final meeting during the 2010-11 season. Each team played two matches, taking on South Central Premier in Hopkinton on Saturday before returning to Gillette Stadium to meet Oakwood Soccer Club on Sunday. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Lincoln-Sudbury great Cole Denormandie is set to continue his second season as a member of the New England Revolution youth development program on Saturday, March 5, at Gillette Stadium. During the 2009-10 season with the Revolution Under-16 team, Denormandie made 28 appearances – including 25 starts – as a midfielder. Finishing the regular season with a 14-7-8 record, the Revs advanced to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs in Browns Summit, N.C. Naturally a forward, the Lincoln native was frequently deployed on the wings for the Revolution. And despite his new position, Denormandie scored 10 goals and registered three assists.
