Sudbury Public Schools has a policy in place for gift-giving to teachers that draws from the state Conflict of Interest Law. Before you head out and purchase that extravagant "Thank you" gift, take a look at the guidelines: It is the policy of the School Committee to discourage the giving of gifts to teachers and administrators. Donations in a teacher's name may be made at each of the schools through SERF and the PTO's. The following is an email from Superintendent Anne Wilson: Thank you for your cooperation over the last few months as we implemented locked front doors at all schools. We are now ready to "go live" with our buzzer entry system. As of Monday, April 29, 2013, all visitors to our schools will need to be "buzzed in." After entering the building, please follow the same procedures that have been in place regarding signing in and obtaining a badge to wear during your visit. We have conducted staff training on the new equipment and we are prepared to make adjustments to our protocols, as needed, after the system is operational. Superintendent Anne Wilson visited students Monday, the first day back after April vacation.
Sudbury Public Schools Superintendent Anne Wilson opened Tuesday night's meeting with a brief report on how students were faring a week after the attack at the Boston Marathon, and she had positive observations to share. Wilson emailed information with parents during the April vacation week on how to help their students cope with the tragedy. On Monday, the first day back for students and staff, Wilson visited the district and said everyone seemed to be happy to be back in their classrooms. Superintendent Anne Wilson says the school community is set to help those students in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.
UPDATED: 1:57 P.M., APRIL 20 Sudbury Public Schools is preparing for the return of students on Monday when April vacation ends by offering support to those who need it in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. In an email sent by Superintendent Anne Wilson, SPS will be aware of students who "require our attention and support." "Each child and adult will process the information in a unique way," Wilson wrote, "and we will do everything in our power to provide a consistent and supportive environment in all Sudbury public schools." Three people were killed in the bombings while more than 170 were injured.
