Sudbury Residents Asked to Pay $700K Toward Plan to Rebuild Town Center

Board of Selectmen approve the plan that will help with traffic flow.

The malfunctioning of the Town Center lights couldn't have come at a more ironic time, but Public Works Department Director Bill Place said it had nothing to do with the overall plans to reconstruct the area. Place, along with Planning and Community Development Director Jody Kablack and Police Chief Richard Glavin, reviewed plans that will help the traffic flow in the congested part of town during Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting. Place said the area has more concerns than just the lights, including: "We have three times the state average in accidents (in that area)," Place said. But it was agreed the most pressing issue today is the lights. On Feb. 14, Sudbury officers worked the traffic detail until technicians got them working again…

Patience Requested While Town Center Lights Are Being Fixed

Equipment failure slowing down traffic.

Sudbury Police Lt. Robert Grady is asking motorists to pay extra attention while driving through the town's center while crews try to fix the old traffic lights that malfunctioned Thursday. Grady said the damage was not related to the blizzard from last weekend but that it's likely just old equipment. "We're doing the best we can," he said. "Safety is a must. We're asking drivers to pay attention to the officers directing traffic." Although rush-hour traffic was slowed down on Friday, Grady it was flowing better than expected. Grady was unsure when the lights would be fixed. An attempt to reach DPW Director Bill Place was unsuccessful.
