A look back at what made news in Sudbury in 2012.

These two storylines began on May 22 and to this day are still causing stirs in the community. To say one weighed more on the town than the other could not be justified. Lavender began as a simple report from the Sudbury Police Department log where Lavender Asian Cuisine & Bar owner Tim Fong received a liquor license warning for hosting patrons after the allowed hours. What followed has the town up in arms, demanding an increase in the number of selectmen. Board Chairman Larry O'Brien admitted to being at Lavender too late, along with about a dozen other town officials, saying he simply lost track of time and apologized. That night…

But it's safe to say few could have predicted this small police log item would do just that. On July 9, it was reported a Sudbury girl was upset about her parents leaving her at home so they enjoy a night out. So what did she do? The daughter decided to lie down behind their car, preventing them from leaving. The parents told the responding officers their daughter refused to move. Peace was restored. The story garnered more than 10,000 page views in one week, and as of Dec. 10 has racked up 11,549 page views ... easily the most-read, single story on Sudbury Patch in 2012. (Original …

A look back at what made news in Sudbury in 2012.

An unidentified 51-year-old Sudbury man was found unconscious on the side of North Road on June 15 after emergency personnel received a 911 call about someone in medical distress. The man was identified on June 18 as Thomas Weis of 394 North Road. The release of his name had been pending the notification of next of kin. At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Friday, the Sudbury Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 484 North Road regarding a 911 call reporting someone in medical distress. The community errupted on Feb. 17 after a drug arrest at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School was reported. The confrontation between student Khalil Chambers and detectives Wayne Shurling and Stephanie Howe turned physical as Chambers began to fight with school officials and Howe. Chambers, who lives at 71 Wildwood St., Boston, was charged with: Lincoln-Sudbury Superintendent/Principal Scott Carpenter said due to school policy he could not comment on whether Chambers was expelled. The Sudbury community was saddened when news broke on Oct. 24 of the sudden death of Will Cadogan. Cadogan was a member of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School's cross country and track teams, and spent part of a summer building a Habitat house in Alamosa, Colo. Between 700 and 800 people attended a memorial service on Oct. 18 at Chapel of the Holy Spirit.. Cadogan was a freshman in the Welch College of Business. The cause of death was not stated. Cadogan is survived by his parents, Carol L. Cadogan and Ronald I Eisenstein both of Sudbury, according to his obituary. He was the brother of Diana M., Kevin B., Michael B., and Patrick …
