UPDATED: Blizzard Watch Issued for Sudbury

Possibility of 20 inches could bury the town Friday into Saturday.

UPDATED: 4 P.M. The Blizzard of '78 was 35 years ago. The Blizzard of '13 may be two days away. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for Sudbury and surrounding areas from Friday night through Saturday morning. According to the watch, "The worst of the storm will be Friday night into Saturday morning," with snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour possible. "Travel may become nearly impossible with blowing and drifting snow." Several news outlets can agree that a minimum accumulation of 18 inches is headed this way, but the maximum accumulation numbers vary. UPDATED: Winter Storm Watch Issued for Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning

Several inches of snow could fall in Eastern Massachusetts from the winter storm.

[UPDATE: Jan. 21, 4:42 p.m.] That snow is expected to begin as flurries early Monday evening and cause a bit of a headache come Tuesday morning's commute. The bulk of the snow is expected along the coasts, with the Cape and coastal New Hampshire predicted to receive 5 or more inches, according to the WHDH weather blog. The western suburbs fall in the area predicted to receive 2-3 inches, but Boston is on the border of the 2-3 and 3-5 inch lines. Most of the snow is expected to fall late tonight through Tuesday mid-day. Along with the snow, according to WHDH, will come arctic air that is expected to stick around throughout the coming week. UPDATED: Winter Storm Watch Issued for Sudbury

Snow accumulations could hit 8 inches.

UPDATED: 4:50 P.M. The last full month of winter may end with the biggest punch of snow the region has seen this season. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for most of Massachusetts, including Sudbury. Residents can expect anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of snow from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday night. The storm's height will likely occur late Wednesday into Thursday morning. The snow should be dry in nature. A combination of poor visibility and heavy snow could result in slippery roads. Both the Wednesday night and Thursday morning commutes will be impacted. An east wind will blow from 10 to 15 mph, and temperatures will hover in the low 30s. Visibility will drop to 1/4 to 1/2 mile at times. A winter storm watch …

Winter Storm Watch Issued for Sudbury

Residents can expect wintry weather Wednesday night through Thursday evening.

Finally, it might be time to dust off your snow shovels and spark up the snowblower. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from late Wednesday night through thursday evening. Residents in Middlesex County, including Sudbury, can expect a combination of snow and ice. Two to 4 inches of snow has been predicted, along with a trace of ice. Conditions will begin to deteriorate late Wednesday night into Thursday, making travel difficult for the morning commute. Winds are expected from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts to 25 mph.
