Yesterday was the first day of spring, but it doesn't feel like it outside.
Yesterday was the first day of spring, but it certainly didn't feel like it. Use this article as an outlet to share your thoughts about this past winter, even if it still feels like we are in the middle of it. This winter season brought cold temperatures, chilling winds, freezing rain and, of course, snow. We have seen a lot of snow this year, and some people enjoy it. They like everything that comes with the snow: making snowmen, sledding, snowball fights, snow days and the list goes on. However, it also comes with shoveling, digging your car out of a snowbank, driving in bad conditions, possibly losing power and so much more. Let us know what you thought of this winter, but please keep it clean. Tell us in 10 words or less what you …

A winter storm warning and a wind advisory is in effect for Sudbury.
Although initial forecasts predicted mostly rain for the west-of-Boston area, Sudbury residents woke up to snow falling, but not necessarily accumulating this morning. So, how much snow will Sudbury get? Forecasters have said this will be a prolonged storm that will last throughout the day Thursday and into Friday morning. When all is said and done, the Sudbury area can expect 3-6 inches, according to WHDH. In the WHDH Weather Blog, Meteorologist Jeremy Reiner says snow will be steady along and east of I-95. Areas west of I-95 will see more steady precipitation later today. By tonight, Reiner says everyone can expect "widespread-steady snow." The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sudbury area, which …

Sudbury will see mostly rain with some possible rain/snow mix, forecasters say.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Middlesex County and the Sudbury area as a batch of rain and snow moves its way into southern New England tonight. After some rain Wednesday, the storm is expected to hit later tonight and last through Thursday into Friday. WHDH forecasters are predicting a rain/snow mix for west of Boston. According to snow total maps from this morning, some areas west of I-95 could get 3-5 inches of snow, depending on where the rain/snow line falls. Forecasters emphasized that this is not a blizzard, rather a prolonged storm that will last over the next day and a half. From Jeremy Reiner's WHDH Weather Blog: Tomorrow and into early Friday morning will be the brunt of the storm but I …

The area could see around a half a foot of more snow Saturday night into Sunday.
There are still huge snowbanks everywhere from the Blizzard of '13, even after moderate temperatures this week, but Old Man Winter isn't done with the Boston area yet. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until Sunday at 1 p.m. for a storm that will pass through the area starting Saturday night. The forecast calls for 1-3 inches of snow on Saturday night and another 3-5 inches on Sunday, mainly before 4 p.m. Visibility won't be great either, as winds could gust as high as 43 mph on Sunday, blowing the snow around and producing wind chill values as low as -2 on Sunday night. The gusty winds will continue on Presidents Day, which will be sunny with a high near 32 but wind chill values as low as -4.

Forecasters are warning the timing of an approaching snowstorm may make Monday afternoon and evening commute slippery.
There may be an inch of snow on the ground on Monday evening during the evening commute, according to forecasters at WHDH-TV. "Don't expect a ton of snow, but a general 1-3" falls late Monday afternoon, through the evening, producing slick roads, perhaps in time for the ride home from work," writes meterologist Chris Lambert in his blog. Even though not much snow will fall, Lambert said that the snow "will create slick spots on the roads Monday evening and Monday night." The National Weather Service forecasts the snow will fall mainly after 3 p.m. in the Sudbury area. The precipitation will change over to sleet later in the evening. Based on the forecast, a chance of rain and sleet will continue into Tuesday morning. Lambert also said …

Fill in the blank with your clever, witty, or just really accurate descriptions.
It's winter in New England. And winter in New England is cold. We know this. But right now, we're at the beginning of an extra cold stretch. We figured you could help warm your fingers by typing an ending to the beginning of this sentence: "You know it's cold out when..." We think it's cold out when you take your glove off and your hand is cold just a few seconds later. Or when everything in your nostrils freezes up. Readers, what do you think? "You know it's cold out when..."

Several inches of snow could fall in Eastern Massachusetts from the winter storm.
[UPDATE: Jan. 21, 4:42 p.m.] That snow is expected to begin as flurries early Monday evening and cause a bit of a headache come Tuesday morning's commute. The bulk of the snow is expected along the coasts, with the Cape and coastal New Hampshire predicted to receive 5 or more inches, according to the WHDH weather blog. The western suburbs fall in the area predicted to receive 2-3 inches, but Boston is on the border of the 2-3 and 3-5 inch lines. Most of the snow is expected to fall late tonight through Tuesday mid-day. Along with the snow, according to WHDH, will come arctic air that is expected to stick around throughout the coming week. [UPDATE: Jan 21, 8:17 a.m.] Forecasters say the snow will start hitting the coast about 5 p.m. Monday…

The potential for accumulation is light, but the times it's expected could cause some headaches.
Just when you'd gotten used to 60-degree days, Old Man Winter reappears. Plan some extra time into your Wednesday morning commute as forecasters at WHDH are calling for a light snowy, rainy mix to begin falling at about 4 a.m. and continue throughout the day. According to Jeremy Reiner on the WHDH weather blog, this isn't expected to be a major storm, nor is he calling for the snow to fly faster than the plows can handle it. "It won't be a big, bad storm that gets a name or anything like that but it will create some issues for us," Reiner writes. WHDH's snow accumulation map shows areas around I-95 could see anywhere from 1-4 inches. The closer you get to the coast, the less snow is expected, with mostly rain expected within 2 miles of the…

Some places could see half a foot of snow on Saturday.
Some area residents had to dig out their shovels for the first time all season after Thursday night's snowfall. Now they may have to crank up the snowblowers. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Friday afternoon, which will go into effect from 2 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday. Snow accumulations are expected to be in the 3- to 6-inch range. Residents can expect the snowfall to begin after midnight tonight. The heaviest of the snow should be from mid-morning to early afternoon. The storm should dissipate in the late afternoon or early evening. Because of the recent cold snap, the snow is expected to accumulate quickly on the already frozen ground. Untreated surfaces will become slippery. Wind from the northeast will…
