Sudbury Resident Begins Peace Corps Service in Senegal

Emily Mepham begins training on March 5.

Emily Mepham will be abroad for a while and for good reason. The 22-year-old Sudbury resident was recently accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Senegal on March 5, where she will train as a health education volunteer. During the first three months of her service, Mepham will live with a host family in Senegal to become fully immersed in the country’s language and culture. After learning the language and cultural skills that will help her serve the community, Mepham will be sworn into service and be assigned to a community in Senegal, where she will live and work for two years with the local people.
