Ben says that he's always wanted to be a journalist because it let him go to interesting places and talk to interesting people. In college, his journalism experience brought him to The New Yorker Magazine where as an intern he primarily moved boxes. So, when he graduated from college, he decided to force journalism to do more for him and he took a 13-week, 15,000-mile road trip with his buddy from high school and his girlfriend, and drove around the country writing for the Huffington Post. His task was to interview fellow millennials about their political beliefs. It meant talking about immigration at the Texas border, environmental policy at Big Sur California, racial politics at a tractor pull in Alabama, and about anything to anyone in between.

When he returned home he began working for Boston.com as their first hyperlocal reporter, covering the towns of Newton and Wellesley. The experience taught him that he did not need to travel thousands of miles to find fascinating people to speak with: they existed in his own New England backyard. So, when the chance came for him to work in Sudbury, he leapt at the opportunity.

He is excited to become a part of the community, and meet as many people as he can. He'll be spending my days around town (with a lot of time spent in the Goodnow Library), so please say hi if you see him.

Right now there is a discussion of a major housing development, and many people are worried about what the impact will be on the environment and on the community. I like the idea of more public housing, but also feel it's important for communities to maintain their commitment to the environment and to their ideals.
