About Karla

Karla joined Patch in mid-2010 as a Boston-area regional editor, making the leap into hyperlocal news after  years of focus on the national and international news fronts at The Christian Science Monitor, CNN and CNN International -- doing online news since 1998. She has lived in a neighborhood she loves, Jamaica Plain, for a total of 18 years, with a stint in lovely Atlanta sandwiched in the middle. Beyond the news, she is, among other things, a (fair-weather) biker, a rabid Celtic music fan and an unabashed church nerd.

Karla,
I think the world media did a great SCARE job on the US based on what happened in Newtown, CT.

Hi Karla,
I owned a driveway and a small parking lot as recently as two winters ago and I paid 180 but that didn't included any shoveling or sand or salt and every additional pass per snow storm cost extra. It was a good rate for me because I followed up with my own snowblower and shovel. The plow guy also did the neighbor's parking lot...creating an economy for him that he passed on to me. I'd suggest contacting a neighboring parking lot owner and then trying to do a deal with whomever they use.
